There’s a lot of Australia that’s got the same sort of rugged individualism-ness of like… Montana. People living in unsanctioned shacks on vast swaths of land and no one bothers them.

But like, it burns down in a bushfire and then you’re SOL if you couldn’t get insurance because it wasn’t permitted

We would never abandon them! So we’ll stay until they live out their lives.

We have very expansive hobbies, but we’ve realised that we could save a lot of money by living almost-tiny and then just having a really big workshop type thing to house them and a good amount of outdoor space to stretch out in.

The 5 to 7 years is based on our expected rabbit lifespan 😅

It’s impossible to the bring them. Cats have 10 day quarantine.

Australia and also NZ!! I’ve since learned a lot of the ones in Aus are living under the radar though… while the councils rarely go after them, I’d just never want something I couldn’t insure.

In NZ they seem to allow slightly wider loads, which makes for amazing designs.

So then I was like WAIT.

Very small, rather than tiny house, but make it custom 👀

You can be in the max square meterage price bracket and it still is effectively cheap cause it’s small! 💡

But when I was looking into THOSE I realised that the price per square metre was actually higher than a custom built house, even though it sounded low cause the size was so small.

I’ve always been a passive consumer of tiny house content, but I’ve never lived somewhere with a climate where it felt like it made sense.

It turns out it doesn’t make much sense in Australia anyway because planning is quite hostile towards them so then I turned to container homes…

also me: ok so I’ve sketched out a detailed floor plan for a custom passive solar house and this is the local builder I want to use

Ripley was going for twice-monthly vet visits for six months after we first got Darwin, so I wasn’t expecting this reaction 😆

Luckily all he needed was distracting with a toy and then he forgot what he was mad at.

Took Ripley to the vet for one (1) hour and Darwin has forgotten who he is 🙄

Guess Ripley took their shared brain cell with him.
