Anyway, it’s all about the inspo. If a student walks away enlightened by even a few cases on their neuro rotation, they will remember it years later in their practice, whatever speciality it may be!
For some specialties it’s obvious like ophtho, cardio, or rheumatology. But here are other Examples:
Ortho-spinal cord compression
OB/GYN-acute headache in pregnancy, med interactions with OCP
GI-acute intermittent porphyria, CNS toxicity of IBD drugs.
Urology-multiple sclerosis
Feel free to add.
I remind them of things they never want to miss and that this is the chance to SEE the overlaps. This lures them in, at least for a few weeks!
When medical students rotate on neurology, they are either super enthusiastic, or luke warm at best.
For the underwhelmed, I ask them their top three speciality choices and tie them back to neurology. #medsky

I liken the response to #neurosky to treatments like mycophenolate or azathioprine. The response window comes 3-6 months later. Don't give up before we even reach the therapeutic window...
