It's one of the best objects I own, of any kind. I'll use it until it dies and then probably pick up a later X-T model.
If you go in with the right expectations the Reto's fab. Sharp enough in the centre and does the lo-fi thing brilliantly if there's enough light. It's actually made me consider picking up one of the cameras they've made for Kodak like an Ektar H35N or the Snapic A1.
Heh, I actually bought a rough QL in a job lot a while back but sold each individually (apart from a half-frame I can't remember the name of which is currently in bits). The QL seemed nice but the 35RC is so much tinier so it really does make a great travel camera.
Depending on what's around the Yashica or Hanimex are my default UK "take anywhere" film cameras, and after being super happy with the results in Japan, the Reto's going to be a must-carry on every future holiday for as long as it survives.
Even with these it's a struggle sometimes. Before last year's Japan trip I was agonising over the 35RC and the KR-10. The Ricoh is ultimately a more serious camera and has faster glass, but I also hate excess weight, and the 50mm is more restrictive than the RC's 42mm, so I went with the RC.
The Hanimex and Yashica kinda have overlapping roles as a "simple" 35mm that I don't have to worry about too much. The Olympus and Ricoh alternate as a nice travel film camera, the Reto is a great pocket camera, and the Optio has taken over from the Praktica as a goofy 00s digicam to play with.
I don't use the Praktica SLR any more as it's just not especially good, the box camera needs a bit of a refurb, and the 110s were a nice diversion but too expensive for so-so quality photos.
There are a few missing from there which aren't currently in my possession - there's an old Praktica SLR knocking around somewhere, a Diadem box camera, a Hanimex 35S, and then a couple of 110 cameras - a Fujica 350 Zoom and a Pentax Auto 110.
Snap of the current cameras all together. Left to right from top: Yashica ME1, Ricoh KR-10, Reto UWS, Pentax Optio S30, Praktica SlimPix 5200, Fujifilm X-T2, Olympus 35 RC.
We got not one but two generations of "F2" special edition in the UK to celebrate the car's F2 rallying campaign. Original was largely stock mechanically but had new wheels and uprated suspension, while the F2 Evolution had a hotter cam and an exhaust.
Ditto. Though I also think they changed the recipe at some point as I remember once liking it but also remember it tasting absolutely gash more recently.
That sounds fun. I've still never really tried portrait stuff. I don't know enough people who'd want their photo taken ๐
I feel like half my life now is clicking "ignore" on Google Docs suggestions or cancelling things my iPhone is trying to autocorrect.
I got the Reto for a ยฃ1.68 from eBay, which is pretty good as it's normally a ยฃ30 camera. Put a roll of Ultramax 400 through it and was super happy with the results (the lens flare is crazy), but I'm always on the lookout for cheap but surprisingly good point and shoots.
Think I can just about stave off the desire to buy another car for a bit (particularly given the uncertainty around global events), but getting the itch for finding another cheapo camera, last one I bought was the Reto UWS back in October.
I've still got a fairly big CD collection, but I've slipped in recent years, and there are a few things I've got through iTunes that I'd like to find physical copies for. Not a huge amount it has to be said, but maybe a dozen or so albums and EPs.
Would love one at some point. The only trouble is, I think I like the first five generations of Prelude equally, so presented with the chance to own any, I'm not sure which I'd actually go for...
Quite liked the mad styling of these. The company's already gone out of business though.
News to me. Looking at Wiki he also did the Barchetta facelift, which wasn't so successful (carrying on the time-honoured trend of Fiat facelifts really not working out).
I still like the styling of these. Would love to find a Broom Yellow pre-facelift Sporting at some point (I prefer the gingicators, wider lower grille, and patterned side strips to the later clear lights, Abarth grille and black rubbing strips).
A lot of Japanese companies in general I think. I'm fairly sure that at one point Honda's range simultaneously included the CRX/Del Sol, Integra, Civic Coupe, Prelude, Accord Coupe, Legend Coupe and NSX.
Guessing this is London, and as usual with cars like this, a big fat handshake to anyone pottering around the capital in something this cool.
Rare case where I'll accept dark-painted wheels (and they're not actually black, so that's already an improvement).
Neat, I've got this brochure. Still have a soft spot for the 100NX - I miss the era of small coupes like that, the MX-3, CRX, Paseo etc.
Land Rover and Jeep have both managed for decades, certainly.
Lovely shot.
Even before Ratcliffe confirmed he was a racist old twat I wouldn't have touched his overpriced tracing paper Defender with someone else's, but now it's an even easier decision.
The boxes are especially daft. I wonder if a single owner uses them to carry anything.
Here's the part 2 with the finalists incidentally www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjwo...
