They're reminiscing about their wedding. The cake needed to be dairy free for Izzy, so they went with an orange cake that used way too much of the fruit. Stede jokes that they're probably immune to scurvy for life thanks to that monstrosity.

He gets that way about socks, too. He'll still wear generic brand shoes ("I'm not paying an extra hundred bucks for the brand, Bonnet") but once he's had good quality socks he bitches about the texture and lack of durability in the cheap ones.
