Israel is why I can’t see any way for Trump and Iran to simply call the whole thing off. Israel has fully committed to this war, presumably because it scored the coup of getting Big Brother Trump to commit to regime change. If Trump walks out now they’re stuck with a furious and undefeated Iran!
Trump’s characteristic desire to simply walk away relies on the idea that walking away will be painless and everyone will let him get away with it as usual. But why would Israel let him? They’ve got him there and they want to keep him there, and can probably do that by continuing to fight.
