What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.
It's gross. They're publishing the outright lies of a *known transphobic sealion* and then refusing to retract or apologize. And we know the leadership there has been pushing this.
Any shred of credibility the old grey lady had left was burned with this most recent Singal incident.
Oh there are plenty, just not who work for legacy outlets like NYT, Atlantic, and WaPo.
And the folks that stand behind NYT because it's "the paper of record" will say that independent journalists like Erin in the Morning and Ken Klippenstein can't *possibly* deliver at the level of NYT cuz $$$ 🙄
The way they bend over backwards to excuse an utter lack of journalistic integrity is heinous.

But on a more critical view, the awkward will-they-won't-they arc of their situationship lasted so long that by the time they *did*, it was painfully frustrating. Seriously it makes Trip-T'Pol look fucking rushed by comparison *even if you include the seasons ENT skipped at the end*.
I appreciated it growing up as an awkward egg who both saw herself in Odo as a total outsider struggling to fit in, and in Nerys as a spritual hotheaded survivor. Though I didn't fully understand it at the time.

The goal is to exhaust the target's patience while maintaining a facade of civil debate. It is often used to derail discussions or undermine opposing viewpoints under the guise of "just asking questions".
Also falls under the definition of "Sealioning", a disingenuous, bad-faith form of trolling or harassment where an individual relentlessly pursues a target with polite, persistent requests for evidence or justification.
