New Mexico lawmakers took some steps forward this session toward real and lasting public safety solutions, but they left too many critical public safety solutions on the table.
“We appreciate the efforts made by lawmakers to pass meaningful legislation this session, such as housing application fees (SB 267),” said Monet Silva, NMCEH. “However, we cannot ignore the fact that many critical bills were left on the table, leaving our communities vulnerable and underserved.”
"People need better access to care. Care systems that do exist are inadequate and underfunded. However, harsh enforcement has been the status quo in the U.S. for the past 60 years."
"Thus far, loans and grants have been used to help with floodproofing, insulation and the replacement or repair of heating and cooling systems. Projects that use the funds are required to keep their buildings affordable for up to 25 years, as reported by AP."
