We have to heat our homes, use transport. Our homes aren’t all suitable for heat pumps, they are looking at hydrogen gas. Vehicles can’t just run on the batteries we have because we need to be able to dispose of them environmentally safely, we could be swapping one dirty thing for another.
Yes it’s the ideal and can’t come quickly enough but looking at transport - cars, we can’t just swap fossil fuels for batteries which are un- disposable, we need to have clean energy , clean dispersal otherwise we are doing the same or worse to the environment.

The Government are between a rock and a hard place, Tory BREXIT was the worst idea and costs us billions, we know we need to ‘rejoin’ in some capacity but also keep a handle on costs, next the media will be crying about something else that needs money. We pay and it’s about accountability.
