Blaming progressives for Kamala's loss is Dem centrists trying to protect themselves. Campaigning with Cheney, Clinton and completely failing to generate any excitement in the base are why she lost, along with not railing against a genocide she helped fund.

When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir
by Asha Bandele and Patrisse Cullors
Finished this a couple of weeks ago. Very well written and deeply moving. Highly recommend.

A few days later came another night I'll never forget - the Israelis for Peace vigil marking two years since the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023.
Hundreds gathered - Israelis, Palestinians, Jews, Arabs, Americans - huddled together on folding chairs in Union Square in chilly weather, under an open sky. As part of a wide-ranging lineup, from the stage, I read a message from Liat Atzili, whose husband Aviv was killed that day; a short, piercing story by Etgar Keret; and a poem by Mahmoud Darwish that hung in the air like a spell.
And there was Mamdani again, sitting quietly in the front row next to Lander. He didn't take the microphone.
He didn't try to center the event on himself. He was just listening. Bearing witness.
His presence wasn't performative. It was pastoral. In a city that so often divides its grief by identity, he crossed the invisible line and simply showed up.
That's when it hit me: This is what safety looks like. Not fences or slogans, not solidarity-as-branding - but the radical act of standing with people in pain, without needing to own or edit it.

I debated 20 far-far-far-right conservatives (racists? fascists?) on Jubilee's 'Surrounded.'

Here are some of the highlights of them unable to answer my basic questions or rebut the simplest of points. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Sure. But I'm talking about getting votes, not issues in Congress.

Great message for the base. How about Dems actually stand for something that the base actually wants? Like single-payer healthcare. Or getting money out of politics. Or 101 other things. 'We're not them' is a cop out from a party that doesn't represent it's base.

Margaret Thatcher the same. She was a union-busting right-wing extremist warmonger.

‘Don’t call it zombie deer disease’: scientists warn of ‘global crisis’ as infections spread across the US

A contagious, fatal illness in deer, elk and moose has slowly taken hold in the US and is now reaching other countries – with potentially devastating effects on human health.

The 100 lowest-paying major US corporations spent $522B on stock buybacks from 2019 to 2023.

Buybacks artificially boost share prices and inflate CEO pay.

The typical worker at these companies earned just $34k.

Meanwhile, the average CEO was paid $14.7M.

See the problem?

Gutting USAID threatens billions of dollars for U.S. farms, businesses U.S. businesses that sold goods and services to USAID are in limbo, including American farms dealing in rice, wheat and soybeans.

US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more.

- US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID
- $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes.
- Food stranded in Houston
- Aid stopped in transit.

The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.

Stop fucking saying he blamed “DEI,” which is some abstract, non-tangible idea. He is blaming people of color having jobs he thinks they aren’t qualified for. He’s blaming race. He’s being racist every time he says it. Journalists need to get fucking backbones, my word.

He told me their MFA service was down, which happens, but to continue to enforce MFA verification when your MFA service is down makes me think Zipcar's cloud service team is a bit clueless.

60 minutes later the wait music is still playing. It's a pretty good groove, but it's getting a bit grating after an hour on hold. Someone did actually pick up so I was able to bitch a bit, but I was gentle.

When I warm up I try to contact customer support to ensure I won't be dinged for not taking the end-of-trip photos the app asked me for. The website says there's a contact form. There isn't. I call customer service.

I do the verification, denied. I use MFA all day every day in my work, I know how to MFA. I try five more times over the course of 15 minutes in freezing, windy weather. Denied, denied, denied, denied, denied. I give up and go home, still freezing.

The app asks me to take photos again, so I start to do so but am interrupted by a multi-factor authentication request to verify my identity with a six digit pin that's been texted to me. Verify my identity during the end-of-trip sequence? That should never, ever happen.
