Working on getting the Oxford English Dictionary to accept it :)
Amazing. Just ordered this and then saw all the other great prints on @aplante.com!
I just wrote a letter: Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present. Write one here: actionnetwork.org/letters/pale...
But we already knew about the room they put you in at a doctor’s office after they call you from the waiting room.
NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.
Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.
Your bar is a thing of beauty!
Reposted every year in response to all those who fetishize remembrance
Why is a tax incentive for private-sector R&D considered an “investment,” but public R&D spending (through government, universities, or other public institutions) not? And why is spending on education, and other forms of “human capital”, not considered an investment?
How much are MPs entitled to know about research grants? Not as much as they think. A parliamentary committee is asking for researchers' personal information in what seems like an anti-DEI crusade, by @picardonhealth.bsky.social www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti... via @theglobeandmail.com
Awesome. Was sorry to miss it
Yamamoto is a robot come from the future to destroy our hopes.
Write to our MPs? This is awful. I hope CAUT will also have a response.
Maxime Blanchette-Joncas: I'm tabling the following motion: That the committee request the three funding councils, namely the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), as part of the study on the impact of federal funding allocation criteria on research excellence in Canada, to provide it with the disaggregated data of all submitted applications, whether funded or not, for all student and faculty funding programs from the master's level onwards for applications made between 2020 and 2025. That this data include (1) demographic data of applicants and collaborators, including applicants' responses to the equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) questionnaire, (2) the institutions and departments of applicants, including the institutions of collaboration, (3) the language of the application, (4) all data regarding the type of application and project content (application year, grant program, discipline, title, summary, amount requested by the applicant), as well as (5) the identity of the evaluation committee, comments, opinions, scores assigned to applications for each criterion, and (6) the outcome of the application and the amount awarded. That the three funding councils submit all this data to the committee within 15 days following the adoption of this motion, in an Excel spreadsheet format.
The Canadian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research is launching a US-style attack on EDI in Tri-Council funding.
As part of this attack, they are demanding disclosure of confidential demographic info + reviewer comments of all Canadian researchers who have applied b/w 2000-2025.
Canadian researchers should be aware the there is a motion before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research to force Tricouncils to hand over disaggregated peer review data on all applications:
Applicant names, profiles, demographics
Reviewers names, profiles, comments, and scores
Absolutely disgusting
I believe they noted a “hitch in his giddy up” 😅
Mine is ok. Fingers crossed
Harry and Meaghan cheering for the Dodgers?? The French were right about one thing for sure…
Just got home from the @uwfa.bsky.social screening of The Encampments. What a harrowing, inspiring, and vital documentary.
Vintage black and white photo of a young girl with large eyes and curly hair, wearing a patterned bib over a dark shirt.
14 October 1940 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Mirjam Lewkowicz, was born in Gouda.
In September 1943, she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

Israel is awful: “Israel also forbade people from celebrating the release on Monday, firing teargas at family members and journalists waiting near Ofer prison in the occupied West Bank, where detainees were kept.”
He can just focus on his inner lobster, and he’ll be fine.
I’ve been ordering from Home Hardware. Did you know they’re Canadian owned? I’ll get to the store in my Mazda.
Yikes: “appeal against school and daycare” in your neighborhood is bad even in the bad context of nimbyism.
The reading study it mentions concludes “Reading with a human partner elicited longer, more lexically diverse, and more relevant responses from children.” Yes!!!
It was a depressing story to read!
We are thrilled to announce that our NEW Large Language Model will be released on 11.18.25.
Once again, it is *faculty*—not administrators—who brought this case and won. Including UC Faculty Association chapters of the AAUP.
"Residential school denialism is not simply an alternate perspective. It is a form of harm that retraumatizes Survivors, undermines truth and perpetuates colonial ideas that jeopardize Canada’s ability to work with Indigenous Peoples..." –
