🚨🚨🚨A Very Special Note from JVL🚨🚨🚨 I’ve got a secret. And it’s not a podcast. πŸ˜‰

My book "How to Eat an Elephant" hits shelves Sept. 8 but it's available for pre-order starting today.

At its core, this book is about communications, persuasion, voters, and how to save America from the toxic forces Trump has unleashed on our politics.

Where breakthroughs are concerned, Hattie is small but indefatigable.

"This administration, which promised common sense and America First, vowed not to embark on namby-pamby woke crusades or get caught up in forever wars and nation-building. Instead, it is proving itself to have the most revisionist foreign policy in American history."

The lovely sound of water trickling in the downspouts, indicating that the roof melt pucks and I have overcome the ice dams. (Very warm and melty here today, before it turns cold again)

I was living in Cambridge in 1978. During the long cleanup after that blizzard, the city also banned cross country skiing on the streets because it was interfering with emergency vehicles!

Wow, that looks as if it has stopped snowing there. We're still in the thick of it (north of Boston); my window screens are pretty much pasted over with snow.

FYI @1degreeoutside.com is on Blsky and they just posted a new update a few minutes ago on their app, so it’ll probably show up here shortly

I just got another compliment on the pet portrait I commissioned from @sandraolson.bsky.social of a friend’s GSD. She does such outstanding work.

(I’ve donated blood so many times and, um, if folks insist on getting their own blood, there’s an another well-known method!) 😳

A picture Mac had posted of his Finnish Lapphund Lumi sitting calmly in snow and with snow all over her face. She is obviously perfectly at home in this environment.

Gee, I don’t know, about this much for a start?

If you would provide a suitable amount of snow she could burrow in it, as befits a dignified lady of her noble standing!

Probably porpoises, which I’ve only seen once IRL, because their leaping was so joyous. I also β€œmet” some rays in an aquarium petting tank and they were really friendly, swooping by our hands. (They felt like wet suede.)

Obviously you and Lumi should write a children’s book. Maybe a whole series. You’ll just need to provide a few words here and there.

You two are so great together. I listened to this as a podcast two days ago and just watched the whole thing now. Muffins!

Jen’s response to winter is to wear big boots and keep on stomping.
