There's a reason why that beloved Nancy fan account that posts strips from the original Bushmiller run and champions the recent runs by Jaimes and Cash has never posted and likely will never post anything from the Gilchrist era, let's put it that way.

A lot of the people who are (rightfully) enjoying the new Nancy comics probably don't know about the Gilchrist years, so believe me when I say that Gilchrist-era Nancy is the worst newspaper comic ever. The worst Garfield is one billion times better than the best Gilchrist Nancy.

No one alive is affected by these crimes (unlike Dahmer), there's no sexual abuse angle to faceplant with (unlike the Mendendezes), and Borden hasn't inspired a large amount of pop culture (unlike Gein), so what direction can they take to make it vacuous and disgusting?

I'm quite excited for the Netflix Lizzie Borden miniseries, not because I think it'll be good (it won't be) but because I'm genuinely interested to see how they manage to make it as tasteless and morally vacant as the previous three seasons of Monster.
