Or as I mentioned in another comment, if you had all the guides and hints and so on that they were denying the test-takers. They took a time that was determined with all the advantages, removed the advantages, and then were pleased with themselves when virtually no one could do it in that time. 🙄
Maniac Mansion has (unplanned) dead ends, where failure is not an indication of the test-taker's ability. If a player encounters one, do they get to start over? Does the time restart as well?
I could keep going. But let's be honest, this wasn't a "test" anyway. It's just a publicity stunt.
They got the time limit from a crowdsourced site where the people beating it had access to all the materials they were denying the test-takers. It doesn't look like they made any effort to determine if the time was adequate for someone playing the game blind.
Ironically for a test that involves a video game, this test seems badly developed.
For starters, said test involves playing an existing game so you can't possibly ensure a level playing field.

My dude, if only 2 out of 800 people can do it, it's extremely likely that your test is TOO rigorous. The people who passed were either familiar with the game or found a way to cheat.
