Today's presentation at the Nuclear Physics INCT symposium, in Rio. Talked about our new pre-equilibrium dynamics model and our new scheme for viscous corrections in particlization.
My favorite is from this bean to bar company that works with wild cocoa from the Amazon region: www.instagram.com/wild.cacau/
I teach the first part of this course. I could not find a single book that does everything well. The closest I could find were Hassani's books. I like that the undergrad one is meant to be used as a textbook and not as a reference book.
Itβs a Nazi bar.
Esse Γ‘lbum Γ© muito subestimado.
PolΓͺmico Γ© um baita eufemismo. Mandrake mesmo. Erro grosseiro e capital.
Vão sair no mesmo dia que o patrão dobrar o salÑrio do empregado se o governo não cobrar impostos trabalhistas e que o preço das passagens de avião cair pra compensar cobrança de bagagem despachada.
How completely jealous am I of Brazil right now
I donβt come out of movies ever being like βgive them the Oscar!β but the shock people have felt with Fernada Torres winning the Globe + the Oscar nom should dissipate entirely after seeing this. Itβs hers. In lieu of Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Torres is the only serious winner
Iβm Still Here: The realization that your life has been profoundly, irreparably fucked never comes in the moment of pain. Sometimes it hits you at a diner and you just have to keep it together because who else will? Gorgeous stuff. I loved this. Fernanda Torres is tremendous
Goat!
Vou ficar por aqui, tambΓ©m. Enterrei a conta naquele lixo.
A maldita "taxa das blusinhas" Γ© um desastre polΓtico. Faltou um departamento de "vai dar merda".
Once any space becomes less than 40% male, (straight) men tend to cede it entirely while shouting about how it βwent wokeβ. Fascinating read:
The colours trilogy is also amazing!

This means we have homework to be done: better modeling of the initial out-of-equilibrium stage is required to improve our description of heavy-ion collision experiments.

Change in posterior distributions of transport coefficients when causality is enforced. Figure from https://journals.aps.org/prc/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevC.110.064904. Copyright APS.
Tau represents the time (in Milne coordinates).
We have now extended this study showing how the posterior distributions of transport coefficients and other model parameters are significantly changed when causality is enforced in such simulations. (7/8)
Causality evolution of a simulated Pb-Pb collision. Figure from https://journals.aps.org/prc/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevC.109.034908. Copyright APS.
My former student R. Krupczak showed how this was connected to the relaxation time of the system: https://journals.aps.org/prc/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevC.109.034908
In the following figure, the red portion of the system is acausal, the purple is indeterminate, and the blue is causal. (6/8)
Recently, a set of conditions to check whether relativity is indeed respected in such simulations was derived by Bemfica and collaborators. When these conditions were applied to usual simulations, we noted that most common simulation setups violated causality at early simulation times. (5/8)
DNRM equations for relativistic viscous hydrodynamics
The set of equations we solve in these simulations is called DNMR hydro. For the initiated, this is a second-order formalism for relativistic hydrodynamics, inspired by the Israel-Stewart theory, aiming at obtaining a version of hydro that is causal in the relativistic limit. (4/8)
Numerical simulations of such collisions help us better understand what happens in these experiments. Because the QGP behaves as a fluid, these simulations are based on relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. (3/8)
I explained in a previous thread how strongly interacting matter under extreme conditions behaves as a fluid known as the QGP. https://bsky.app/profile/tiagojnunes.bsky.social/post/3lbwlncyxqe2r
This fundamental fluid is produced in heavy-ion collision experiments at the LHC. (2/8)
Our latest paper has just been published in Physical Review C. We show how enforcing causality in simulations of heavy-ion collisions affects the transport coefficients extracted from Bayesian studies. Thread upcoming!

This! Have you read βUncommon Sense Teachingβ? It highlights the importance of breaking our heads based on neuroscience.
