Hereβs Billie & Bill ~20 yrs ago. She was a founding member of the Mendocino College Bd of Trustees & was responsible for establishing the Ukiah campus where it is, & not @ the State Hospital in Talmage. They both leave nice legacies & memories in the region. Memorial service details still TBD.
Oh gosh, thanks for sharing that memory. He loved that annual trip with Janet Pauli et al, and it was among other things a showcase for his extremely detailed geographical & historical knowledge of the N Coast Range.(I got to join one year.)
He worked for the USFS in his youth but was a forester in private industry for decades, Retired early when the pressure to overcut became too much. A city kid who became an outdoorsy, self reliant woodsman. Obit in UDJ forthcoming.
Thank you; he was filled with gratitude for his long life. He was a Ukiahan of over 70 years and really appreciated your Daily Journal reporting π

A mosaic #Mapinthewild map of the Albany Bulb Park, Albany CA. The park is a peninsula on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay. Great details, incl trails represented in red. #cartography
As in, Butt Ugly.
Can we please make this happen? The men get Kash Patel and a shit-smelling pederast. The women get Flav. A little cosmic justice would go a long way right now.
Everything Trump touches is wrecked, including the Team USA menβs hockey win.

2026, in brief
Imagine doing this with your one precious life. Other people are out there teaching children and curing cancer and you decide to spend your time telling outrageous, laughably unbelievable lies about a dementia-addled rapist and fraud whose legacy will be nearly ending US democracy
A true giant in filmmaking history. I was able to speak with him once, at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley.

The documentary community mourns the loss of one of its pioneers and most vital chroniclers of society, institutions, and humanity. A past IDA committee chair and recipient of a 1990 IDA Career Achievement Award, Frederick Wiseman, 96, leaves behind a brilliant legacy.
Illustration from 1902 showing eight different fish species and two seahorses, each numbered for identification. The fish vary in shape and texture, including rounded, inflated bodies and elongated, slender ones. The seahorses are depicted with detailed curled tails, horse-like heads, and segmented bodies. Notable features include spiny or smooth textures, fins in various positions, and distinctive snouts on some fish. The image combines flat and raised body forms with subtle color shading in browns, greens, and yellows, capturing naturalistic details for species recognition in a historical scientific context.

Same for Berkeley, my flatlands neighborhood is definitely not the wealthiest.
