On Nov. 11 at 3:00PM in the OCC Exhibit hall, you will have 30 minutes to mount 10 arthropods. Winners determined based on the mounting method and aesthetics.
That streak is only about 1-1.5 seconds long. The species that makes it is Photinus pyralis and it looks like a J kind of
This is not Photinus pyralis. The black on the pronotum is more like a spot on the pronotum in P. pyralis. This could be a couple other species like P. consimilis or P. obscurellus.
There are fireflies in every state of the US but Hawaii. West of the Rocky Mountains they just don't glow/flash as adults.
