Russia stole the concept of Slavic reciprocity. The first Slavic Congress in Prague in 1848 was not even Pan-Slavic but rather Austro-Slavic, as they did not invite Russians. Pan-Slavism = Pan-Russism
European Slavs [Slavs other than Russians] have much more in common with each other than with the RF. Not only Slavic heritage but also shared problems, as being small countries positioned between great powers, treated like a cake to be divided & a history of occupation by foreign invaders.
We shouldn't forget the example of #Armenia that relied all of it's security on a single treaty, very similar to the NATO one and it turned out very bad for them, as their prime minister said:

Therefore it's better for us to have a B plan: strengthened regional multifaceted cooperation of countries that are weaker than our #western neighbours and in greater geographical proximity to #Russia, and therefore more motivated to defend themselves.
At the same time it's worth remembering that our region has a long history of alliances with superpowers that didn't work out as we expected. #Article5 of NATO can be interpreted in various ways. Also nowhere is written that in case of an attack all of the territory of our countries must be regained

Even the largest countries in this chasm, #Ukraine (~37 million), #Poland (~41 million), and #Romania (~20 million), pale in comparison to the twice-as-large Germany (~83 million) and Turkey (~85 million), and more than three times as large Russia (~144 million) near their borders. 4-12
