Our new EMA paper shows that girls worry more about school than anything else in their lives. These worries are linked to lower positive affect and predict depressive symptoms. More attention is needed on school pressures' role in the mental health crisis!

π In a live speech with mobile eye-tracking, teens who both delayed looking at and spent less time looking at a critical judge reported higher anxiety symptoms 3 years later. Read about this avoidance-avoidance gaze pattern as a marker of anxiety risk in our new paper π doi.org/10.1016/j.ja...
Looking forward to speaking tomorrow at the Digital Media and Developing Minds 2025 Congress. Great meeting so far! @childrenandscreens.bsky.social
Colleagues who study adolescent emotionsβ please fill out this survey!

I was led to believe by R.E.M. that I would feel a lot better about this.
Great question. The photos will only be used in the experiment, not shared with any people or posted anywhere. However the experiment may be used by other researchers. Researchers will have to prove they are legitimate before receiving access.
Great article!
Iβll be attending to present on parenting and the teen brain
Yay! So excited for you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Iβd love to be added. Thanks
I am a child clinical psychologist, and would love to be added
I would love to be added to this. Thanks.
I would love to be added to this if possible
It's been great so far!!
Check out this new work from our lab led by Stanley Seah, showing that better skills in emotion differentiation protect against intergenerational transmission of social anxiety symptoms from parents to teens. Effects are driven by reduced behavioral avoidance in teens with better ED! #PsychSciSky
We made an attempt to come up with comments that we thought sounded like realistic comments that teenagers would make and they laughed at our failed efforts. Also, apparently emojis donβt always mean what we think they mean :)
Hi. Thanks for organizing this. I would love to be added.
My team and I just led our first Youth Research Advisory Board to co-design a social media fMRI task. I was blown away by their insight. They had some strong and unexpected opinions that will really help us make the task more realistic. Iβm excited to continue using this approach going forward.
I would love to be added if possible
