posits that GIVING FAMILIES LANGUAGE AROUND LGBTQ+ issues is a **BAD** thing?!..

as (very likely ALSO emotionally immature) kids & adult children

(if we don't address it, usually in therapy)

those memories serve as guardians to that gap in our consciousness

the fear of feeling the same shitty way we felt when some adult shamed & guilted us to get what THEY need from us

you know what gets put in the gap in consciousness where language around LGBTQ+ language could be

little passive-aggressive, snarky comments to "keep us in line" with what the PARENT wants

or in the worst cases? full on fucking *meltdowns*; our adults displaying their own emotional immaturity

but

your child will NEVER be a carbon copy of a parent *AND* be healthy

parenting is not just replicating oneself (tho sure, that happens)

it is providing an environment where a *brand new* -self can grow and learn to nourish itself with what *THAT* self needs, not what the PARENT needs

we find new ways of expressing ourselves, new language that was NOT provided to us by our communities and adults

and often our parents have no way of dealing with this healthily

the only way they knew to parent was to REPLICATE themselves 😭

but if your language for expressing yourself is ONLY rooted in copying your adults you are limited in expressing yourself

and alot of folks (including me) who grew up in these limiting environments eventually find that the only option for inner peace is breaking out of those limits

they don't separate sexuality & gender *because* validating that language shows that their adults' language was inadequate

which causes fear in them that *they're wrong*, that *their* adults are wrong, that in not giving their kids *certainty* about gender binary identity they're failing their kids

the only words I inherited to essentially push down THAT feeling was "sodomy is a sin"

evie X-ians don't have language to dissect personally identity down further than

'man bucket' (OK)
'woman bucket' (OK)
'anything else' (bad)

I was emotionally immature for way too long as a young man, & in my immaturity I had many unidentified FEELINGS about non- straight-presenting folks that I had no way to express

most could be boiled down to unexplored fears

but I ALSO had a sense of "what is so bad about all that?"

I was raised in evangelical X-ianity

and my adults' passed on to me that it was a 'sin' to be homosexual

(they didn't pass on language around being 'lesbian', 'bi-sexual', 'trans', 'queer', or 'non-binary' because they didn't have language from THEIR adults about any of that)

this is the true cause of the *parent's rights* narrative

some parents don't wanna hafta *learn new words* to explain reality to their kids (even though the words are widely available to curious minds)

instead they'll hold kids hostage in a limited worldview to replicate the bigotry they trust
