I disagree personally. I think Sonic characters should all have at least a little exaggeration in their voices. They are cartoon characters after all.

I wouldn't even say that they were just "trying" I think they succeeded. Elise's story is genuinely great in my opinion.
I think the writing for Sonic in 06 is pretty consistantly great. The problem is his story is really awkwardly paced so he and Elise don't get a lot of time to shine. But every time they have a scene, it's really nice.
I'm pretty indifferent to the Chaotix Casefiles right now but I will say this: Espio is going through it.
