What are we fucking doing feeding this thing?

And if you demure or give the wrong answer then you don't get to attend your art class or cubscout meeting or whatever, ever again...

Consider how fucking weird it is to have a device which facilitates the sort of social activity one might have once had at a small community hall & then shoves all the ills of the world in your face and makes the other attendees expect you to tell them your opinion on them.

Anxiety currently stoving my head in. One realises, in this avoidant state, just how impossible it is to function online without things seeping in when all you wanted to do was watch a silly video or talk to a friend. This machine is a fear machine. I may ultimately have to give it up permanently.

I'm trying SketchUp soon. My course allows me free AutoCAD and money off SketchUp pro so I will try that when I have given AutoCAD a good go.

Oh yeah I've tried not to even look at that part of it yet. Just get all the shapes down as needed and will worry about that after!

Oh how I want that sign!

Oh there's no substitute for on the ground measurements! I'm mainly hoping to use this for concept imagery. Although I want to still have some freehand work in there too so might then just pop it in a drawing thingy once done.

I'm very much starting out so there may be better options but the course allowed me a free account so I am working on it now. They also offer SketchUp pro but I think that's more for 3D rendering I think.

At the moment I am at the...'this function should do this...oh no it did something weird'. Stage. I know some of the commands but it's 50/50 it will do what I expect it to.

I am learning AutoCAD for my garden design and the user experience so far is horrendous. It's very useful but massively counter intuitive. Especially if you come from image editing (layers are not isolated from one another as they are in PS etc.

That was October 2001. One cannot remember what one never learned to begin with. One can only hope that soon the world turns to the tune of another one that remembers.

On a day very much like today. Wet, miserable; I remember walking with my then gf and mentioned that were another invasion of another culture with a long memory to go ahead, then it would end the same way. This was not a clever point it was blatantly obvious. I was correct then & I am now.

When a nation's cultural memory would take longer to recite than yours has existed think twice. (Assuming human cheese whizz can think one let alone twice). That is cultural resilience. It is slow but devastating to any one who opposed it.

Not political post per se. Just an idle thought. Manifest destiny is something one can talk about after millennia. Not a couple of centuries. The arrivistes of the world should do well to think of this when chosing enemies.

These are so cool! I remember when I was first into old VWs these were actually kinda cheap (although I wasnyiund and penniless). Now not so much..

It really suits the scene here. I feel warm and dry just looking at them.

My subversive approach to this has been to ignore them. There are very few pictures of me anywhere and for my work avatar it's just my initial. They have asked a couple of times and gone away again.

As an archaeologist it is my duty to report that there are people who consider megaliths to be seats*

* Probably...you come across all sorts especially when you are based in the west country.

Indeed, just been pottering in the garden, warm sun on my back as I idly tidy and trim things. Feeling hopeful for spring.

What do you mean 'The Egg Marketing Board British Grand Prix' doesn't have a ring to it?

For Osaka there is a cluster of independent photography shops near Umeda station. I also found Yodabashi to have a great stock of film even though not an independent. Tokyo I forget now as it was a few years back but Shinjuku will have a lot of options.

Such is the fate of all shy, thoughtful people. Doomed to live in a world hewn by confident fools.

Yeah I've noticed this a lot with cameras. None of this useful info if you happen to be buying something 50 years old and already know what it is.
