ICYMI: Unlock the Power of Action and Reaction (Understanding Scene and Sequel) [2-Week Forum Workshop] starting Jan 19th at SavvyAuthors
This scene & sequel class was born when I was a student in someone else's writing class and talking about how I use S&S and a fellow student asked if I could be their writing coach which made me feel like, "Oh, haha should I be teaching this?" #amwriting #writingworkshop #writing #writingcommunity
I got to enjoy about twenty minutes my Writing Workshops page being completely up to date before someone contacted me to book another class π

Here's a sneak peak of all my upcoming #writingworkshops, both text based and on zoom! #writing #writingcommunity
So I have a new mailing list I'm looking to start. I've seen many posts about how #substack is controversial, bad, cancelled we all hate it, etc but suddenly a couple of writer friends just switched TO substack this year so I am confused. Did public opinion shift on that and I missed it or..?

there is a tiny voice inside me that still feels like it was crazy to throw away 5k followers and decades of presence on the site bc of discover / reach / etc but if they're still on Twitter in 2025 they don't deserve to find me at this point π
The final straw was logging on to see what it would take to delete all my tweets and the site wouldn't even LOAD because there are so many trackers now and I had this moment of why am I bothering to do this exactly? and pulled the trigger
Just a thing about this: a common statement in writing is that you can fix crap, but you can't fix a blank page.
I have heard AI apologists claim that this is why it's fine to generate a first draft.
Now, to be clear, fuck this.
But also: an AI draft is a fucking blank page.
I spent so long weighing whether it was worth it to delete all my tweets but keep my Twitter account up just in case people wanted to find me there / because I had so many followers and finally decided my christmas present to myself is freedom

Of all the sins of AI, this is an unexpected and deeply annoying one
Starting to get my 2026 Writing Workshops up on my website but I'm still waiting on at least three more dates to be confirmed. Here's a sneak peek in the meantime: buff.ly/fNDNZFM #writingcommunity #amwriting #writesky #writing #writers
"We here at Bank of America remember a time when a woman couldn't get a credit card without her husband's approval. Wouldn't that be fun again?"
I'll bet the reason AI writes Like That is training prioritized text that search engines weighted higher aka SEO optimized blog posts/pages. That's exactly where you see that repetitive redundancy with hitting the same keywords over and over.Β
After all, what was the easiest text for them to take?

Libro.fm (which is like Amazon's Audible but supports indie bookstores) has a great black friday deal where you get 3 audiobooks for the price of one. Got $115 worth of a trilogy I've had my eye on for $15 & am pleased about this. π This is my referral link if you decide to sign up:
If Iβm understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?
I see it's the seasonal argument about why piracy to fuck over Amazon and publishers is okay while many authors live below the poverty line.
Do not steal books, I beg. Borrow from a library. Libraries lend e-books!
if it would be somehow useful for me to write this up as a blog post, lmk and I will do it tomorrow
What's great about it is you can have as many tabs as you want based on search queries for categories, keywords or labels instead of just the handful of somewhat useless ones Gmail offers and all without the extension reading your emails or feeding it to AI
PSA: Seeing people lamenting that you lose the tabbed inbox in Gmail if you shut off the Smart Features (which is the only way to opt out of the AI scraping) but there is a Firefox extension called Inbox Zero that gives you an even more powerful / customizable tabbed inbox you can replace it with
