AB isn't blameless and should do more to stop folks, but they don't do it.
I've worked for multiple campaigns and two PACs - list swapping and buying is frequent but they never come from a payment processor.
It's actually the reverse. Candidates and PACs sell your data and swap it with other candidates/PACs. AB never does. They're just a payment processor linked in the texts.

I think Charles point is that the politicians and PACs are the primary one to blame here (though AB is certainly not blameless) as they are the ones selling and swapping your data and who created the legal system that allowed this in the first place.

I've slept a bit on this other than a few posts, but one of the most brazen things happening in state governments right now is that the Kentucky GOP is trying to impeach a liberal justice (and the first/only Black woman to join the court) because of a vote she took last year they don't like.
Never donate to candidates or PACs, because that's who sells and trades your data - not AB. They just share it with whoever you give to.
I’ve watched a lot of congressional hearings over the last 40 years. This performance by Bondi is the single most unprofessional, non-responsive, reprehensible and obnoxious I have ever seen from any witness who has testified before any committee of either chamber.
I know plenty of people with filters for anything with an AB link and can’t blame them. Just wish the people causing the problem caught their share of the blame too.
They only share your data with the campaign/PAC you choose to give to - it's the campaigns and PACs that are selling/trading your data with each other. AB certainly enables it, but they aren't the root cause.

This is just a complete lie. They take a 4% processing fee to pay the credit card companies like any other payment processor (PayPal, etc) but otherwise every dollar goes to him. What are you on about?

Also, that was the candidate sharing their own information they downloaded from ActBlue. Very different than ActBlue selling lists, which it does not do. It's the candidates and PACs that sell and swap.
Given they don't send text messages or emails and it's actually the campaigns and PACs that sell your data and spam you, this seems like a reasonable response to you harassing their employees.
This is terrifying and folks are underplaying the significance of this attacks and what it means for the 2026 elections.
