P1 had fun dressing up as a word on Thursday as part of World Book Day. π
P1 and p7 visited Denny Library on Thursday for World Book day. We enjoyed taking part in a scavenger hunt with our buddies. π @mrsbartley.bsky.social
After learning about castle defences, we made catapults using lolly sticks and elastic bands.
Here we are seeing if our catapults work.
P1 are continuing to keep their teeth clean and healthy, practising good brushing habits and talking about ways to look after our smiles. Lots of giggles, great sharing and proud learners showing off their toothbrushing skills! π
In P1 we explored online safety through Smarty the Penguin π§π»
We talked about how to stay safe online, what to do if something doesnβt feel right, and the importance of speaking to a trusted adult. P1 thought carefully about who they could go to for help at home, at school, or in the community. π
These learners created a βdinoworldβ and also then wrote a label for the wall using their sounds.
This learner was using a drawing pad after learning about Ramadan in her play.

The children rolled the dice and used their sounds knowledge to blend and read the word they landed on. We worked in partners, supporting each other to spot sounds and push them together to read the whole word. It was lovely to see children encouraging one another and celebrating success together π
P1 wanted to introduce you to our class mascot Tryatops. You may have seen Tryatops in some of our class photos before. Tryatops looks out for our learners trying their best. π

Child led play in P1 βοΈ Junk modelling and loose parts in the sand supported open-ended exploration, while wooden blocks were used to create a fantastic airport and runway.

Mark making on tin foil in our winter tuff tray. A great opportunity for the children to experiment with pressure, movement and patterns, supporting fine motor development and early handwriting skills. βοΈ π¨
This small world has been a hit recently. It has been a fire station and a mansion and today it was a βrainbow houseβ. Great team work, communication skills and creativity demonstrated through play. π
