Thank you, Karyn! π
Thank you! π
I love this one so much! Disappointed youβre not showing up in my algorithm. I miss a lot of my favorite poets here (but still fine with closing my acct at the Bad Place).
An airborne poem in (what else?) ORBIT magazine. Thank you to The School Magazine for publishing βKitchen Caper,β and to Greg Holfeld for the delightful art. #kidlit #poetrycommunity ππ
Itβs perfect kite weather here! Though I havenβt written much lately, I was glad to recently receive this copy of βAir Showβ from the April 2025 issue of COUNTDOWN. The colorful art is by Caitlyn OβDwyer. πͺ #kidlit #poetrycommunity
Hope youβve had a pterrific World Poetry Day! Hereβs my poem βPterodactylsβ from the February 2025 issue of BLAST OFF. The ptop-notch illustration is by @christophernielsen.bsky.social ! #worldpoetryday #kidlit
I didnβt make it to the #PBParty finalist round, but my amazing author/illustrator friend of nearly 20 years, Allie, did. (Sadly, not on Bluesky!) Cheering her and the other finalists on! π

Or if youβre protesting Trump policies on any campus in the nation.
Oh, I adore reversos! Theyβre not easy to pull off. Well done!
Thank you, Sheri! It was fun trying a sonnet rhyme scheme - kind of like a word puzzle! π
Thanks, Kristin! π
Utterly unbelievable! Happy to wake up to the news that my silly sonnet, βOde to U,β won an honorable mention. Thank U, @littlethoughtspress.com !
Wow! Such great rhymes, and I learned quite a bit! Congratulations!
I love this, though I wonder how it will work! If King has the power to bring back beloved kidlit authors, I hope he collaborates with Shel Silverstein next! π
Itβs the best kind of break! π
Ah, CROMULENT β my #MadnessPoetry Round 1 word in 2024! Love a good βJeopardyβ / βThe Simpsonsβ / kidsβ poetry crossover. #kidlit
Yay! Valentiny is my favorite of Susannaβs holiday contests because it has the highest permitted word count. π Happy writing!
I finished up my #Valentiny entry this morning β had a lot of fun with it! Will continue polishing before the submission deadline (2/12-2/14). Any other #kidlit friends participating? π

Yay, Heather!! Congrats!
Oh no! Iβm sorry. This is my first year participating in the contest, so I really appreciate the cheerleading!
Thank you! You too! π
I kind of love the anticipation β it gets me through the hairy parts of my day job and parenting. As much as I want to see contest results, itβs nice to have an exciting reveal on the horizon.
Oh, Iβm sure the wider submission window makes things much easier! I have a 9-to-5 job and a young kid, so early morning hours are really the only time I get to myself! π€ͺ I took a bit of vacation time this morning to finish my submission.
Whew! #PBParty entry submitted, dance party completed! Good luck to everyone participating!
Shout out to all who awoke before dawn to submit entries. May you have the opportunity to nap later!
Thank you for posting, John! Iβm finally working on drafting a few PBs and getting an agent this year. Gotta have goals! Miss you!
β€οΈβ€οΈ January was a rough one! Hoping for brighter days ahead.
March 2! #50PreciousWords is back! #kidlit
Hello, new #PBParty friends! Nice to meet you here. I write exclusively in rhyme (in the #kidlit world anyway!), so weβll see how the contest goes. π¬
This poem is from the Nov. 2024 issue of BLAST OFF with fun topsy-turvy art by Tohby Riddle.
Cheers to landing on our feet in February!
Yup, me! π Thank you, Brian!
