β¦this week Iβve been ferry hopping to check in with my staff in Uist and Barraβ¦
Two years ago almost to the day I interviewed for a librarian job at the other end of the worldβ¦
Reminded how fortunate I am to have the job that I have and live where I live β€οΈ
Had an author engage multiple staff in 3 days of emails just so they could punchline that they would NOT visit our library service because theyβd had to invite themselves*
*They were invited 15 months ago, strung us along for months then last minute told us they changed their minds

#Libraries believe in a people-centred Internet, as both a guarantee of rights and an enabler of development. Upholding the fundamental rights of access to information and knowledge is a starting point. Via @ifla.org
From nope to yes lol. Not bad for a dog who was born in Queensland and living in the subtropics until a month ago β€οΈ

Page 31 and already enraged. Why is English (which spreads like the plague) so threatened by other languages?
As an immigrant to this country, it is *already the case* that you cannot access public funds (incl. disability benefits) at any point up to gaining indefinite leave to remain.
For me, that was more than ten years of student & spouse visas, healthcare surcharges, a Life in the UK test, etc
