I know how to use both Resolve and Vegas, many years of experience in both, Vegas is absolutely horrible. Stick with Resolve and find a solution within it.
Turning down playback quality is a big one. Turning off the preview images in your timeline makes a difference. Disabling tracks you're not currently using helps. Using the import (ctrl+i) instead of dragging footage onto the timeline helps over time. Turning on the film reel in your media pool and

Best Independent Game should be in the main show on stage, not the pre-show. It is the second most important award, it deserves a big presentation. You can't pretend you care about indie games on stage while also pushing them to the side.
The winner of "Game of the Year" should not be allowed to win "Best Independent Game." Whatever got second place in Best Indie should be pushed up to win it.
The ability for one game to win both makes the latter irrelevant.
