On Feb. 12, 1969, Toronto tested out having "bus bunnies" to make public transit more attractive. The idea was proposed by the Canadian Urban Transportation Conference
The idea was only tested for one day before it was abandoned.

They bombed girls elementary school in Iran.
Canada would have been better off saying nothing. You can detest the regime in Iran without supporting chaos. www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/stat...
Another crisis, another moment where Canada does not make good on its rhetoric about third powers:(
This is past due, it should be more, but I’m glad to see it: ://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ottawa-funding-cuba-9.7105223
I’m interested in how this continues to be managed as if it is a private collection. I know the Ontario judge ordered that the AMC be provided with a catalogue and I’m not sure what has happened to that.
Thanks for staying on this story. Do you know if there has been a catalogue distributed?
Am I correct that the HBC and/or the courts involved in the bankruptcy have still not shared a catalogue of the goods up for auction, let alone let people have a look at it? I understand why our attention is on the charter but we need to be able to look at what they’re auctioning off.
Top Ted-talk right here.
From community members and grassroots leaders, I’ve heard clear messages condemning the paramilitary force and authoritarian aggression by ICE.
Government officials must not remain silent about our closest neighbour embracing fascist authoritarianism.

Lighting charter rights on fire so people don't feel uncomfortable when others seek justice and/or disagree with what is happening seems bad to me, a citizen in a democracy.
Will go shake my fist at clouds later.
I approve! I’m reading a library copy of an ebook and there is no pagination. boo!
old historian lady grievance: Why can't we have page numbers on digital books, or more digital books? I love a page number and I don't love a footnote without a page number.
Canada is uniquely positioned to break the siege of Cuba—we should be leading a regional coalition to ship oil and aid to Cuba, and prevent the humanitarian crisis that U.S. regime is attempting to deliberately trigger.

The province has acted on only 20 per cent of the recommendations made three years ago on how to improve access to addictions services, says a report released by Manitoba’s auditor general Thursday.
reading Nikhil Pal Singh as I watch Canada's bluster about middle powers fall away as the US deprives our Cuban neighbours of oil, and we hover between aiding the US & not helping Cuba. Where are we in terrifying homeland empire emmerging to our south? www.equator.org/articles/hom...
With headlines that the University of Alberta will "abandon race-based" admissions policies, remember that anti-EDI framing is designed to make it seem like the pre-EDI status quo is somehow 'neutral'. In reality, by abandoning sensible EDI policies, institutions are *doing* race-based admissions.
NEW from me today:
Tumbler Ridge is mourning a horrific loss. But how the shooter's identity is being talked about online, and the dangerous links being made to trans people at large, will have resounding and dangerous impacts in the months and weeks to come.

Canada must help Cuba. Here is my latest about Canada's long and deep relationship with the island nation, and how Carney's Davos speech turned out to be all talk and no action.

Tumbler Ridge is a small planned resource community, a winding 90 minute drive from the nearest city of at least 10,000 people.
A massive number of people are going to descend there tomorrow.
May those that arrive have respect and grace for the unimaginable grief.
Oh, Tumbler Ridge. 💔
Whenever people ask what I do, I think the honest answer would be “I send a lot of email.” All the fixes to manage the volume of email seem to require a huge amount to work to create and maintain. So, yes.
