We would see if we could reduce one or more of those. Like with the vacuum, our dog could handle shorter durations of having it on but would react after a few minutes. Being farther away from it did NOT seem to help. But having us do smaller movements (intensity) with it DID help.

We worked with a veterinary behaviorist who had us use the “engage/disengage” game. It worked really well for our previously feral dog. Another good piece of advice she gave us was that a dog has three thresholds for becoming reactive: proximity, intensity, and duration of a stressor.
