Jane Goodall, the gentle disrupter whose research on chimpanzees redefined what it meant to be human Without formal scientific training, Goodall upended the study of animal behavior. She also inspired countless people to protect nature.

"Goodall noted that the most successful chimp leaders were gentle, caring and familial. Males that tried to rule by asserting their dominance through violence, tyranny and threat did not last." An extraordinary scientist and human.
RIP Jane Goodall

Today I visited Iguaçu National Park, a Natural World Heritage Site. After 36 years, I was amazed once again by the wonderful Iguaçu Falls, the largest group of waterfalls in the world.

Wondering how to connect with folks with unexpected 13C data from stream consumers (i.e. more depleted than sampled OM sources) that might not be published/findable. Any suggestions on how to make these connections? Or is it you?! πŸ‘€

More flow upstream and less flow downstream: The changing form and function of global rivers We mapped daily streamflow from 1984 to 2018 in approximately 2.9 million rivers to assess recent changes to global river systems. We found that river outlets were dominated by significant decreases in flow, whereas headwaters were 1.7 times more likely...

A study of 2.9 million rivers worldwide reveals large shifts in global river flow patterns over the past 30 years. The results emphasize the critical yet changing role of upstream rivers in flood dynamics and the far-reaching consequences for both natural and human systems.
