This seems .... worrying.
This seems .... worrying.
This was one of my top reads of 2025, simply because it achieves so much with such a short and straightforward story/telling.
A black cat with paw outstretched on an orange sweater, a leg os out of focus in the background.
Having the worst week but there's this guy so it can't be all bad.
The hack we all need. Save these pics for later reference!
Not least: some people are awful and want to hurt you, but many - most - are kind and will help you to save your own life.
A hand holds up an advance reading copy of 'Whistler' by Ann Patchett.
This one's a goodie. Might actually be my favourite of hers. Tender, heartwarming, full of good lessons it does us well to remember in this often awful times. New #annpatchett out in Canada in June. #booksky
Someone with an owl/falcon or similar who talks A LOT about how cool birds are and lets you have the bird sit on your arm then tells you something like "their claws can rip through steel" very casual-like.
I am really quite a fan of @dshepyeg.bsky.social. This is excellent work.
Same. I love a good burn and this apparently nasty movie is getting thoroughly torched.
A hand holds up an Advance Reading Copy of John of John by Douglas Stuart.
Coming out this May in Canada. Pre-order now. A gripping family drama with a cast of marvellous, hilarious, stubborn, frustrating characters I swear I will adore for years to come. #douglasstuart #booksky
I feel @premeemohamed.com could enjoy this bug.
Copies of 'We Are Green and Trembling' by Gabriela CabezΓ³n CΓ‘mara and 'The Wax Child' by Olga Ravn.
And so the reading marathon begins. Still have a tower of ARCs, but I must read from the @thebookerprizes.com International longlist! These 2 make a good start point. #booksky #bookseller #bookerinternational
π¨The most important graph in the world has another year of data, and it doesn't look good!π¨
NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space.
The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled!
Can relate, sadly.
Every time Smith speaks, our highly skilled, high tax paying, house-owning immigrant family beomes more likely to get TF out of Alberta soon. So I guess if it's fewer immigrants she wants, she's doing a great job. #alberta
some of you are looksmaxxing when you need to be booksmaxxing
Most people know you can text 31100 for bus times, but almost nobody uses the βSAVEβ feature. You can actually give your stops nicknames like βHOMEβ or βWORK.β One word, one text, and youβre in the know.

Soprano Book Club Feb 19th 7pm, Audreys Books. Tickets $16.
By Thursday it will have stopped snowing (right?) and you should definitely join us for Soprano Book Club. Erin V-P, Daniel Belland and Martin Galba (all-star line-up!) will treat us to some of the most beautiful soprano songs (and duets!) from musicals based on books. Bellissima!! #yeg #booksky
Trailer looks great. Thanks for the rec!
If they're not paying for that additional square footage, they should. Maybe the fees are high and can be negotiated. Maybe they don't need an unused year-round patio?
TBH I'm astonished to learn there is no fee for this. I walk past Ricky Mountain Icehouse most days around lunchtime and there are seldom folks using the patio, even in summer. The boardwalk is in bad shape, is too narrow to start with and is further narrowed by their signage.
Absolutely! This is what we are fighting as a downtown business. Folks come to browse because they have a dental appt, not because there's a core of several interesting places to visit. I love a good coffe shop, but it can't be all coffee shops and donairs if we want folk to want to visit downtown.

I think the only half-time show I'd watched before was Prince (because, duh). South Africans don't much care about the whole superbowl business. But all the hype about Bad Bunny got me to watch and I'm so glad I did. One hell of a performance. So impressive on every level.
If you do not completely abandon the plot at least twice to describe someone's outfit in minute detail i will have to refute this description. But for now I'm jumping gleefully and singing "Premee's doing gormenghast".
Behind a wall of boxes, two smiling people are just visible.
A u-haul partially filled with boxes.
It's the month of teacher's conferences, and that means we're wildly busy getting tons of boxes of books packed, stacked and over to the exhibition centre. So many boxes that we can make box forts in the store. Teachers, find our stall and come say Hi. #booksky #yeg #netca
I'm a bookseller. Pretty sure we're all weirdos.
If there's a poster for this, please drop off a copy or just mail me one at @audreysbooksyeg.bsky.social and we'll put it up at the store. Excellent initiative!

I DNF Crocosmia. Was excited for it to arrive and then just couldn't find a way in. π
