This was one of my top reads of 2025, simply because it achieves so much with such a short and straightforward story/telling.

Someone with an owl/falcon or similar who talks A LOT about how cool birds are and lets you have the bird sit on your arm then tells you something like "their claws can rip through steel" very casual-like.

If they're not paying for that additional square footage, they should. Maybe the fees are high and can be negotiated. Maybe they don't need an unused year-round patio?

TBH I'm astonished to learn there is no fee for this. I walk past Ricky Mountain Icehouse most days around lunchtime and there are seldom folks using the patio, even in summer. The boardwalk is in bad shape, is too narrow to start with and is further narrowed by their signage.

Absolutely! This is what we are fighting as a downtown business. Folks come to browse because they have a dental appt, not because there's a core of several interesting places to visit. I love a good coffe shop, but it can't be all coffee shops and donairs if we want folk to want to visit downtown.

I think the only half-time show I'd watched before was Prince (because, duh). South Africans don't much care about the whole superbowl business. But all the hype about Bad Bunny got me to watch and I'm so glad I did. One hell of a performance. So impressive on every level.

If you do not completely abandon the plot at least twice to describe someone's outfit in minute detail i will have to refute this description. But for now I'm jumping gleefully and singing "Premee's doing gormenghast".
