This is why everything is "software as a service" now: you can lock you customers in on long term contracts billed per seat, rather than having to make a good product that people like to use

For the EU, this should be a very urgent matter of national security. All EU member states should build on Denmark's wise strategy to phase out Microsoft products
"It’s not surprising that lifestyles with less exposure to pollution [and inflammaging] are linked to lower rates of chronic disease."

This is figure 2, which shows Bogong moth navigation under natural night skies.
A paper in Nature suggests that the Australian Bogong moth may be the first invertebrate known to be able to use the stars to navigate. Experiments in flight simulators indicate that the insects use stellar cues to help them fly in the right direction. go.nature.com/3ZEaDgG 🧪
‘Alternative medicine’ is not harmless
The rise of anti-science has been happening for more than a decade but was turbocharged by conspiracy theorists and alternative medicine ‘practitioners’ during the pandemic

Science is not a conjecture of axioms. Science is the best tool we have to better understand reality.
When we negate science because it goes against our “identity”, we negate our best understanding of reality.
This unfortunately can end badly in many cases.
Support Science always!
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

Provavelmente todas as anteriores.
No que deveria ser uma manchete do The Onion, governo dos EUA considera liberar asbesto novamente
A horizontal bar chart titled "Percentage of Global fossil fuel emissions (since 1751) occurring in my lifetime." The chart shows how much of the total historical global fossil fuel emissions have occurred within the lifetime of individuals of different ages, from 5 to 100 years old. The vertical axis on the left lists ages in increments of 5 years, from age 5 at the top to age 100 at the bottom. The horizontal axis represents the percentage of fossil fuel emissions, marked in 10% increments from 10% to 90%. The black bars represent the proportion of fossil fuel emissions that have occurred during each age group's lifetime. The bars increase in length as the age increases, meaning older individuals have lived through a larger percentage of the cumulative emissions since 1751. Three specific age groups are highlighted with red bars and white text annotations: Age 30: "if you are 30 it is more than 50%" Age 50: "if you are 50 it is about 75%" Age 85: "if you are 85 it is about 90%" The source of the data is cited at the bottom: "CDIAC and globalcarbonproject.org." The graphic is credited to "@neilrkaye."
If you think climate change has gotten worse during your lifetime, you're right and there's a good reason.
If you're Gen X like me, more than 3/4 of fossil fuel CO₂ emissions have occurred in your lifetime. Even if you're a Millennial, it's at least half.

(This just happened to someone I know and I am INCANDESCENT at every politician, influencer, and grifter who has mainstreamed anti-vaxx bullshit to the point a healthcare worker would tell a patient to not seek the only surefire treatment against a 100% fatal disease)
Hey as a reminder, if you have contact with a bat, that should be treated as a potential rabies exposure and if a fucking *healthcare worker* tries to dissuade you from getting the vaccine, report their fucking ass because holy hell you do NOT mess around with rabies??
one of the biggest advances in technology over the last twenty years is a shift in focus from “how can we make things better?” to “how can we make things worse?”
The toughest part of Medicine is not medicine per se but navigating the ego of some colleagues and the hierarchical thing! Patient comes first, always. And a note to always stay curious, although the dark side of medicine attacks from time to time.
I learned a lot and really enjoyed this @nejm.org interview episode with Dr. David Jones. He’s an incredible physician with deep expertise in medical history—a truly fascinating profile. Lots of food for thought.

People, I'm sorry but we have to deal with this. Later is too late.
People do this in healthcare and it always irritates me. “Look at that patient. They sit there with an iPhone but say they can’t afford their medications?” Buddy, you are mad at the wrong thing.
As the old saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We are born to live in communities.
