Toy Story
I'll never forget when Cartoon Brew interviewed several Academy voters and one of them refused to watch Song of the Sea (Irish) and Tale of Princess Kaguya (Japanese) and described them as as "two obscure freakin' Chinese fuckin' things that nobody ever freakin' saw."
Monsters Inc. 2 being announced yesterday got me thinking about Disney's Circle 7 version and it was by far the best of their three sequel scripts.
I do too. They were the appetizer before the main course.
I think the only time Pixar has ever gone the musical route was that one episode of Cars on the Road.
One less Robin Hood movie to add to the plethora of live-action Robin Hood films.
It'd be interesting to see what Pixar does with a full-blown musical story and you have Domee Shi directing? Sign me up!
Heidi Jo Gilbert (also directing) was head of story on the first one and The Last Wish so we're in good hands.
Before it got delayed I knew the March 2024 release was a yeah right.
We're in good hands with Troy Quane now in the director's chair. Loved Nimona.
Zootopia making $1 billion for a truly original idea is still really impressive. Especially being a non musical Disney film.
I think Pixar should use the early March slot for their originals going forward. It gives them more breathing room plus positive word of mouth would go a long way with all the spring breaks across the country. They can keep mid-June for the sequels since they're guaranteed hits.
Happy 10th anniversary to Zootopia! I love the creative world-building, the charming characters, and how it expertly handles its themes. Everything about this movie is so good.
This has always been a pet peeve of mine when it comes to reviewing Pixar movies.
Critics can't help but compare the studio's latest films to their older ones. They expect every new film to be as good as what came during their golden age which are unfair and unrealistic expectations to have.
Add a robot filter over his Mandarin voice and you have Neo Metal.
Can't wait to check it out! I heard the second half of the movie really leans into the premise and that it goes into some unexpected directions.
I knew Hoppers was going to be great. The best Pixar movies are often the ones that have these weird and bizarre ideas.
This and Cinderella are my favorites of the Disney remakes.
"Why are you crying? It's just a kids movie."
The movie:
I'm curious how an Encanto 2 would do since the first one gained a massive following during the pandemic through streaming but never got a fair shake in theaters.
I hope we do get a sequel at some point because there's still so much they could do with those characters.

Congrats to Disney's dream team for dethroning Steve and Chicken Jockey.
Someone needs to make an opening title sequence of The Pit set to the Mouse Rat song from Parks and Rec. That song kind of works for the show.
Early reactions for any movie skew positive but I'm seeing different verbiage than these normally have. People have said this is one of Pixar's best movies in ages and their funniest. I have a good feeling this is going to be the first original animated film to hit $500 million since Coco.
I see it too, especially in the deer.
Hopefully Hoppers does well like GOAT is currently doing. It would be awesome if two original animated films did good business in theaters again.
If it wasn't for the fact that a few moots are only available on the other platform, I would've left that place a long time ago.
Thereβs a whole discourse about it on Twitter.
βThis is not how toys work.β
Trying to base a movie in realism where toys are sentient beings.
Not sure what the problem is. Toys tend to have spots where the paint rubs off. His paint rubbed off from the constant friction of him taking the hat off and back on.
The paint that Geri used probably wasn't that strong since Woody easily scrapes it off his boot.
It's easy for me to keep track of how old these movies are because I was born the same year the original came out, haha.
