The LaborβLiberal duopoly is wrecking our climate. They keep backing coal, gas and native forest logging while nature collapses and the planet cooks. I called out the hypocrisy in Parliament!π³ππ
Last year in Parliament, I warned the Minns Labor Government that their new tough-on-crime laws would fail to keep communities safe and only result in greater over-policing of First Nations kids - and that's exactly what happened.
βNSW is on track to miss greenhouse gas targets, its inland rivers are dying, land clearing is rampant, and the number of threatened species has increasedβ
We donβt just deserve real environmental action and protection, our very existence relies on it!
Over 7 months late and the NSW Gov.βs State of the Environment Report confirms what we already know: our environment is in crisis.
Meanwhile, the Minns Gov. underspent nearly half a billion dollars on environment protection and have not allocated enough in this week's budget to address the crisis.
Today we gathered outside of Parliament & called this out loud & clear. I talked about Aunty Narelle Wilson - Gumbaynggirr Elder who wrote to the Premier on behalf of the Clans of the Gumbaynggirr Nation telling him he must make good on his promise, protect the forests of the GKNP.
This morning frontline heroes stood strong at NSW Forestry HQ in Coffs Harbour, calling on the Minns Labor Government to protect the crucial and iconic Orara East State Forest. Good caring people are stepping up to protect NSW's Forests. Donβt stay silent. Get involved.
This morning I joined the rally outside the law courts as Josh Lees, on behalf of Palestine Action Group, challenged the Minns Labor Governmentβs draconian anti-protest laws.
We wonβt be intimidated. We will keep fighting for the right to protest! π₯β€οΈ
UPDATE: Logging machines have entered Orara East State Forest β under police guard.
This is the forest promised as part of the Great Koala National Park. Instead of protection, the Premier has sent in extinction machines and police to defend them.
Scully should understand that the existing sports facility at Fred Caterson is fine and destroying the critically endangered parts of nature that we love is just not on!
Again, thank you, Mila and the community for all your hard work and dedication.
The Fred Cateterson reserve is critical for wildlife.
So, watch this space. I plan to table this fantastic petition in Parliament next week.
5/6
So this petition requests the NSW Minister for Planning (Paul Scully) exercise his power and refer the contentious development to the Federal Minister for the Environment for assessment - because the biodiversity of Fred Caterson is of national environmental significance.
4/6
The development will also harm the endangered wildlife of Fred Caterson Reserve - including the Powerful Owls, Platypus and Glossy Black Cockatoos!
3/6
The development will have a significant impact on the Critically Endangered Ecological Community - Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest. Thereβs only 1% of this Forest left in the world!
2/6
Thank you so much to Greens Councillor Mila Kasby for bringing this - huuuge - petition to me today. Over 700 signatures!
Folks hereβs what itβs about - The Hills Shire Council has a contentious plan to develop an elite rugby precinct in Fred Caterson Reserve.

The Guardian has reported on NSW Labor Premier Chris Minns' shady back room deal with the Shooters Party - so they can have their Game Council 2.0.
It's honestly so cooked - handing our public lands to the gun lobby, pretending its good for the environment.

Please join the call and send an email to the Premier and Ministers now and tell them enough is enough, pull the machines out of Orara now!

The Premierβs extinction logging machines are rolling in to Orara East State Forest!
We must take action. If you can get to Orara go now - It's only 20 minutes from Coffs Harbour.
1/2
Letβs call it what it is: recreational hunting is not effective invasive species control. It contributes little of value and actively undermines effective control programs.
The Minns Labor Government must stop playing politics and start delivering real solutions.πΏπ¦
Letβs work to keep the Coffs Foreshore For All.
Will You Take Action Now - to stop this absurd proposal: Follow the link below to visit the ForeShore For All website and make a submission to the NSW Government, telling them that you object to this proposal.

- First Nations ignored: NSW Labor has ignored calls from the Garlambirla Guyuu-Girrwaa Coffs Harbour Local Aboriginal Elders Corporation to preserve the area. The area holds special meaning for the Gumbaynggir people.
4/5
- Not a housing solution in a housing crisis: The Minns Labor Government donβt know how much affordable and social housing is included in the development, it's just going to be sold to the highest bidder - for millions.
3/5
Here are the issues:
- A blatant land grab: The proposed development puts wonderful and popular public land into private hands.
- Climate risks: The site is extremely vulnerable to erosion and flooding due to rising sea levels.

The Minns Labor Government is pushing to put multi-storey apartments along the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore - but the community have said βNoβ!

To the alarming First Nations imprisonment rates, destructive coal and gas development, communities fighting for our forests, climate fuelled disasters and the discovery of one of the cutest and most critically endangered possums alive.

It's been a busy sitting fortnight in the NSW Parliament! Dive into this thread and check it out.
Weβve had everything from the Premiers dirty deal with the Shooters Party - the βGame Council 2.0β billβ¦

On the eve of World Environment Day I spoke in Parliament about Labor's hypocrisy. They were voted into power on the promise of climate action and the protection of nature, yet the truth lies in their actions. They continue to approve new Coal and Gas developments and log our precious native forests
Today is World Environment Day ππ³π¨π
It's important to take a moment to really think about this beautiful blue green living planet.
Thereβs so much at stake!Action your hope so we can protect and regenerate this beautiful planet that we depend entirely upon ππ³π¨πππ
