Introducing Petri Dish Neural Cellular Automata (PD-NCA)

In this work we explore the role of continual adaptation in artificial life, where the cellular automata in our system do not rely on a fixed set of parameters, but rather learn continuously during the simulation itself.

We found that the feedback provided by field agents enabled artists to generate more novel and valuable artifacts
Moreover, they also enabled larger shifts in the artists' defining text prompt, which is comparable to an artist's shift in perspective as described by Glăveanu

Creativity is built on social constructs and interactions among individuals and their surroundings
