Is it just me or do all #AI generated non-realistic images for #academia look very similar? It's boring already and I pay less attention. Bring back amateur scribbles and artists inspiration.
:( I was playing that song just the other day... simple, pointed, powerful
Some great framing of #AI and us. Dr Kairatiana Taiuru is a deep thinker & clear communicator. This is from a MΔori perspective. Yet, has broader applicability & is worth a 5min read. www.taiuru.co.nz/kaupapa-maor...

The good news is that the DART mission showed us we can knock it back on course. Now we just need a billionaire after some publicity.

Living in #NZ? Don't forget to donate to the NZ Heart Foundation national appeal. bigheartappeal.org.nz. NZHF is key to cardiac research. I'll be out shaking a tin in Christchurch on the corner of Cashel & Oxford tomorrow avo - see you there. #Heart
Not sure what there is to consider #NZ Government, the answer is No! I donβt consent & I donβt trust my data would be used or stored well by the US government.

Did you know you can see highlights from our #kakapo nestcam: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...? In the last 24 hours we've seen a chick hatch and a rare short-tailed bat flying - and walking - around the nest. Exciting to see things never seen before! #conservation #kakapo2026
To justify the innovation to track data from source these astronomers use the experience of the amyloid-Ξ² Alzeihmers paper that was retracted from Nature in 2024, 18 years after publication, and not before the damage had been done. Maybe us medical researchers should learn from the astronomers?
I'll have a beer waiting

NZ must reckon with the grim reality of our future: more storms, floods and heat.
This is a confronting situation. And yet, if we are to shield our communities, our infrastructure and our economy from the worst excesses of climate change, it is one we must confront.

Does that mean we will be able to take someone to court when they say "can" when they mean "may?" Or, worse, when they say they are "moving forward" and "socialising" a message. #GiveTheBillTeeth

Drawing of a cuneiform tablet that is arranged in a table.
The spreadsheet on this clay tablet, which is almost 4,000 years old, is organised into columns for furrowed area, grain produced, land not sown, and the fieldβs name.
The first field is called βOf the soldiers who stood in for their fathersβ.

I'm a skeptic when it comes to #AI as the solution to everything, & have little trust in the veracity of answers given by chat bots - but damn it can do pretty pictures from text. This is NotebookLM's infographic made from just the abstract of my thousand year old PhD thesis

Tamar, be a little careful at interpreting the point estimates on their own. The confidence intervals for quartile 2 are large such that I have little confidence there is any effect. The differences between q3 & q4 are unlikely to be real.
