To a certain extent those are priced in anyway as there has to be a by-election. Quitting as mayor to run for MP adds an additional unnecessary election across all of Greater Manchester. Not just one constituency seat.
I can see the logic. They've cancelled Local Government elections in places that are due to get reorganised as it would be a waste of taxpayers money.
Same applies to a Mayoral election in Manchester. It'd cause a day shutdown in local government, schools to close as they'd be polling stations etc.
She was in the Tory Government that negotiated the deal.
