If you missed it yesterday, UNI Global Union launched their new manual on collective bargaining with a gender perspective — a tool to bring more women to the table and support unions in negotiations with employers. The CWU stands firmly with UNI Global Union in this work.
Following #InternationalWomensDay, we’re keeping the momentum strong: negotiate for equality!
From equal pay to safer workplaces, unions continue to deliver real change for women workers through collective bargaining.
International Women’s Day began with working women organising for better pay, safer workplaces and a voice.
Built through solidarity, strikes and trade union activism.
Today we honour those who fought before us — and the power of workers organising together.

No delays. Implement pay transparency by June 7.
#IWD2026 #EqualPay #PayTransparency #CWUIreland
Ahead of International Women’s Day, we’re calling on the Government to stand firm against employer lobbying to delay the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
Women in Ireland still earn around 90c for every €1 men earn on average. Pay transparency is a key step towards closing the gender pay gap.
Thank you to all members who attended the Dáil protest or contacted their TDs — your actions made a real impact. ✊

The Union is still awaiting a timeline for eir; however, a further meeting has been set for next week with Minister McConaolgue to discuss this and superannuation on health‑ground cases.

To everyone who marched, stood firm, and made their voices heard — thank you. Your courage and unity send a clear message: injustice will not be tolerated.

This fight isn’t over. The CWU will keep up the pressure until pension increases are delivered. We stand with our retired workers — strong, united, and relentless.
These are not handouts — these are hard-earned entitlements. The strength of feeling was clear: our pensioners will not be ignored. After a lifetime of work and paying their dues, they deserve justice — not delays. ✊
Pensioners Turn Out in Huge Numbers Outside Leinster House!
Over 3,000 people stood shoulder to shoulder yesterday as CWU organised a massive protest against the government’s delay in pension increases owed to 20,000+ retired An Post & eir workers.
Outside the Dáil today, standing alongside retired An Post and Eir workers.
Agreed pension increases are being stalled while pensioners struggle through a cost-of-living crisis. This is unacceptable.
#CWUIreland #Anpost #eir
Despite commitments already made, thousands of retirees are still waiting for pension increases that were agreed but have yet to be implemented due to Government delays. Supported by the Communications Workers’ Union, pensioners are demanding that fair pensions are delivered without further delay.
Pensioners from An Post and Eir will gather outside the Dáil to protest unacceptable delays in implementing agreed pension increases — a story now being reported by RTE, TheJournal.ie, and The Irish Times.

On 23 January, workers at Covalen stood together and made their voices heard. Their action was a call for fairness, respect, and meaningful improvements to their working environment.
The IFUT Executive, gathered today for a strategy session, sends its full solidarity to the @Covalen workers and the @cwuireland.bsky.social in their strike for fair pay, secure employment and respect at work.
An injury to one is an injury to all. ✊

Taking profit out of childcare is overdue but why keep the middleman at all? Until Government moves away from dependence on private providers, families, children and staff will remain trapped in a failing market system.
