Not Irish? You won't have heard of the Late Late Toy Show - an Irish Christmas tradition since 1975.

Imagine if your biggest late night chat show did a 3 hour Christmas special with dancing kids, Toy demos and Make A Wish stunts.

And every Irish person on the planet has to watch

I travelled the globe to document how humans became addicted to faking the natural world. Here’s what I found In his new book, The Anthropocene Illusion, photographer Zed Nelson reflects on the surreal environments created as people destroy nature, yet crave connection to it

This is a great read but I think we have already ran out of the language. I was at an event this week about how to influence Scottish government policy and told don't mention climate change, politicans don't want to hear it because voters don't want to hear it πŸ€” www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Air pollution raises risk of dementia, say Cambridge scientists Most comprehensive study of its kind highlights dangers of vehicle emissions and woodburning stoves

β€œThe pollutants were: PM2.5, which comes from vehicle emissions, power plants and woodburning stoves & fireplaces; nitrogen dioxide, which arises from the burning of fossil fuels; & soot, which comes from sources such as vehicle exhaust emissions & burning wood.” www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Quality of scientific papers questioned as academics β€˜overwhelmed’ by the millions published Widespread mockery of AI-generated rat with giant penis in one paper brings problem to public attention

β€˜The consequential nature of journals, and potential threats to the quality and reliability of the work they publish, have prompted leading scientists to sound the alarm. Many argue that scientific publishing is broken, unsustainable and churning out too many papers that border on worthless’ #spΓ©irgorm

The difference just 4 years can make when land is released from overgrazing.

Nothing was planted here: all these native trees, wildflowers, etc, came naturally, along with loads of butterflies, birds, + other animal life.

THIS is how we reverse nature loss. #Rewilding 🌍

A great explanation of what is going on with the attacks on Kneecap if you need it. The only thing I would add @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social is that protest has always been dangerous in the north of Ireland and the RUC also stood back while protesters were beat up. Which makes Kneecap even braver ✊️

Gaza will be entirely destroyed, Israeli minister says Bezalel Smotrich says Palestinians will β€˜leave in great numbers to third countries’, raising fears of ethnic cleansing

A world historical crime, taking place in full view, with the perpetrators so convinced of their impunity that they can brag about genocidal intent, and it’s hard not to agree with their calculation that no one will stop them and no one will be held accountable
