Some analysis on a Kentish 'Iceland Gull', Originally photographed last month to the north. Flew past me y'day along the cliffs at South foreland. perdixbirding.com/2026/03/04/0...
A handsome 1st winter Caspian Gull at st Margaret's this morning, a single 2nd winter YLG elsewhere and generally very few gulls...anywhere! #kentbirding
I see more Caspian Gulls than I do Yellow-legged during winter these days, so enjoyed a smart 1st winter YLG at st Margaret's bay earlier today, alongside an Adult YLG and a 1st Winter Caspian Gull and c150 Herrings #kentbirding
Chefβs kiss, lovely bird.
9 Caspian Gulls today at st Margaret's bay: 3x1st W,2x2nd W, 2x3rd W and 2 adults, a welcomed sight after abit of a drought locally. 4 YLG also and several Argentatus #kentbirding
About 20 miles north up the coast from P.Escondido
More from Mexico; Streaked-backed Oriole, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Orange breasted bunting and Common Pauraque . Saw Humpbacked whales every other day and managed to fit in some birding before and after work, great trip.
Working in Southern Mexico this week. Accommodation is remote and birds are beyond plentiful. Male vermillion flycatcher, Tropical Kingbird and Double striped thick knee
Any time π
Hiya, I think it looks like a clean white headed herring gull, mostly on shape - I canβt see a caspian facial expression or any real 2cy CC plumage stuff like a p10 mirror. Cactus at best perhaps.
3 x Caspian Gulls (1 sub-ad + 2 first winters) this morning at Dover harbour building site day roost. Proving to be a decent but, sadly temporary spot for loafing birds. #kentbirding #wpgulls
11 Caspian Gulls of all ages seen in the past few days around Dover: Along the cliff tops, in cliff bottom day roosts, on the beaches and in the harbour itself. #wpgulls
Iβd go with abit of a scruffy 2nd w female casp. Perhaps some mixed genes at play but the face, bill and proportions feel Caspian to me.
First gulling session for me in a while. 8 Caspian (4x1st w, 3 x 2nd w and a 4th w) gulls at st Margaret's late morning. #wpgulls #kentbirding
Nice one Phil
Fantastic morning up the cliffs. Picked up a Pallid swift first thing over eastern docks, Dover harbour for 5-10 mins before moving NE then a point blank Pallasβs warbler in Langdon hole . Edited pics on the blog later www.perdixbirding.com #rarebirdsuk #kentbirdng
I had a look around the kiosk cafe in the bay but couldnβt see it. It was closed today Iβll ask if itβs been handed in tomorrow John
Dover harbour to St Margaretβs highlights this am: YBW (pines garden) Ring Ouzel, juv Merlin, Brambling, 25 House martin, 40 Swallow, 6 Firecrest #kentbirding
Back from Scilly & going through images. A really fun year with some fantasitc birds and very few days without new arrivals. My own finds on st Agnes didn't get much beyond this Little Bunting on the 14th and a Short-toed lark on the 15th. Love place and the magic. #scillybirds #rarebirdsuk
Nice account. My first Grosbeak there, 2017
Thanks Chris
Thanks simon
Juvenile Pallid harrier this afternoon over Foxhill down, then again over the top fields at South Foreland. A dream patch find for me , perhaps negotiating the channel from Dunge.more pics on the blog www.perdixbirding.com #kentbirding #rarebirdsuk
Bit of a dream find for me that. Especially Daurian, Lovely well done
Fantastic
1CY Caspian Gull, Dover Harbour this afternoon. only the 4th Cspian Gull I've seen this season, a nicely plumaged bird, presumably female. #gullswp #kentbirding
Dark juvenile Honey Buzzard, Southforleand lighthouse this am flew paralell with the cliff top towards Dover at 9 am, 500 mipit, 10K Hirundines, 3 Swift, 4 Spotfly, 5 Whinchat. 00's of Chiffs etc #kentbirding
Iβve seen 4 ospreys in the past week. 3 of which headed out low over the channel into gale force or strong SWβs, piece of piss it seems
Fucking ell. What a bird
