And then there were none. The Carney government has officially axed the Documentary Heritage Communities Program, the only federal funding for community archival programs. A drop in the bucket of the federal budget, but hugely influential for local archival and documentation projects. Sigh.
Fantastic news! It appears that an individual has used a program to download the data from the historic places register and created a new site with it! If all the data is accurate, this will become a valuable site for researchers across the country.

The next dumb ass who exclaims, “But it’s a dry cold!” as we dig out from under already the third significant snowfall of the winter is getting a slap upside the head and a screen taped to their face so they can observe humidity readings from Environment Canada.

Our water guy showed up a day early, which is probably colder than tomorrow will be, then proceeded to fill the tank at a leisurely pace while dressed in what appeared to be a hoodie—smiling, imparting holiday greetings, somehow not freezing his face off. Total hero.
