Starmerβs position is entirely consistent with what he wrote about Iraq in 2003, a fact of enormous inconvenience to just about everybody currently criticising it. Happily for them, just like the entire bloody Chilcot Inquiry it is apparently very easy to ignore.
BREAKING: The US has bombed Tehranβs main refinery and burning oil is now flooding down the streets into the cityβs sewers.
This is a vision from hell, unleashed by the US tonight.

There is almost no difference between the UK and French positions on Iran. But Macron's approach has been broadly accepted by French media and the opposition - except for the extreme left. The parallel with the UK is interesting.

Daily Mail Twitter post: Flying a Union Jack Flag is branded a βtool of hateβ in government's leaked social cohesion strategy. Multiple Union Jack and St Georgeβs Cross flags are displayed prominently along a road, amidst greenery and a building in the background.
βA leaked draft of the proposals suggestsΒ national symbols were sometimes used last summer to 'exclude or intimidate'.
It warned that the: 'EXTREME RIGHT HAS TRIED TO TURN SYMBOLS OF PRIDE INTO TOOLS OF HATE'β

Videos shared online falsely claim Keir Starmer banned New York mayor Zohran Mamdani from the UK, after Mr Mamdani supposedly said the UK had βlost its moral compassβ at an event they both attended.
But no such event happened, and he hasnβt been banned.

Let me guess, wealthy people who moved to Dubai to avoid paying taxes now want the countries they moved from to protect them?
Full on Corbynista fury in the responses to this. The far-left's occupation of the Greens is yet another reason why the party won't replace Labour - but will hurt it enough to let in the far-right.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social why has your Urdu election advert got pictures of Keir shaking hands with the Indian PM?
Doesn't feel relevant to Gorton and Denton.
I can hear the dog whistle.
This Green use of Starmer-Modi resembles a leaflet that Labour put out in Batley in 2021 about Boris Johnson + Modi. The party was heavily criticised for that. I think the lesson is not to pitch to voters from one background with messages you can't show + defend to voters of every background.

I honestly think I live in a constant state of disappointment when it comes to our politics.
Yes I know there are no easy solutions but our democracy needs a healthy dose of realism & honesty, not the glib, short sighted solutions politicians of all parties offer us.
Hey ho.
I think I just live in a constant state of disappointment
I think they can regain your trust with a mixture of honesty & a commitment to a better politics. i donβt think there are any easy answers to what ails our politics though. But Iβd like to see Labour admit theyβve got things wrong and a commitment to try better
Yet again itβs the curse of social media
I actually really, strongly, disagree with this.
Elected representatives' first responsibility is to those they represent, their electors. It is not to a small, fee-paying group of supporters. Nor should it be.
It's the fundimental issue with the classic CLPD approach; it's corruption
Politicians talk about a better politics but rarely follow their own advice.
