worst part about applying to a big chunk of really cool jobs using your really cool resume and really cool portfolio is the barrage of not-so-cool rejection emails that say "sorry, your really cool stuff isn't really cool enough" in the most boilerplate uncool language possible

A small paragraph from a portfolio review that says "Hey Humberto! (Humberto being the poster) Thanks for sending your portfolio along. It's a really great start and I really enjoyed my time with it. I've added a couple notes below, with page numbers to lead you in. Obviously none of these are prescriptive, but hope they help!"
Steps are difficult, but knowing you're headed in the right direction goes a long way.
