Shanghai famously turned its back on the bike decades ago, surrendering its streets to cars in pursuit of economic prosperity. But in the coming years, they will make a remarkable U-turn, reclaiming substantial road space to add 1,250 km of high-quality cycling routes in the name of urban vitality.π§΅

Why is the city a nightmare? Do you mean that driving around has become more difficult? Ask the kids if having the extra space for them to play, and run around, and be safe in, if that is a nightmare! Ask people who can cycle more easily, and get to work energized, if for them it it is a nightmare!
