In 2001, before the Gamecube launched, Nintendo held a contest called "What would you do for a Gamecube?" where the person who did the wildest thing would get a 'cube.

The winner was Corey Olcsvary who cosplayed as a blue Pikmin by painting himself blue and eating bugs live on stage.
