A digital CAPTCHA verification window titled "Select all squares with PIPES" against a plain white background. The window contains a 3×3 grid of numbered squares, mixing literal hardware, smoking pipes, and programming syntax.
These captchas just keep getting harder #rstats
I think I usually do a compromise of the two, using maybe 3-6 pipes: some filter/select, group_by, summarise, or some filter/select, mutate etc. And then save those intermediate objects for inspection. These then also represent a logical sequence of (digestible) data analysis steps.

Spannend!
dplyr 1.2.0 is out now and we are SO excited!
- `filter_out()` for dropping rows
- `recode_values()`, `replace_values()`, and `replace_when()` that join `case_when()` as a complete family of recoding/replacing tools
These are huge quality of life wins for #rstats!

Banger article that touches on a lot of psychology and gives some good recommendations at the end. 2/2
When a quote about software development could just as well be applied to quantitative psychology:
"Once experimentation becomes the default way decisions get made, changing behavior stops being theoretical and starts being procedural." 1/2
Screenshot of tweet from Huberman that reads: “The other is that dog breeds w/different shaped heads are predictive of their demeanor and intelligence. And while I don’t! believe in Phrenology I now do pay some attention to how the shapes of peoples heads relates to their intellect and steadiness, or lack thereof.”
In response to announcement that he will be a new CBS contributor, Andrew Huberman tweeted “I’ve always gone issue-by-issue on health & science, spoken to experts w/a range of takes & presented where I see the center of (data) mass pointed. I’ll do the same with @CBSNews”. In Sept he posted this:
A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.
Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.

Yes, if the order doesn’t otherwise play a role or the effect isn’t typically thought as negative (e.g., EEG N400), I find the positive expression slightly easier to digest.

Die zeitliche Reihenfolge war mir nicht bewusst. Ich wollte hier auch keine Sonntagsarbeit verursachen… Danke! 👍
I think many people have no idea what high or low values of % GDP might be and simply pick the highest response category to express their suspicion that it’s high (or are biased by the space to the right if it’s a slider/free response format). Wouldn’t interpret this too strongly.
Toll!

Fast alle Interviews von Boris Büchler bestehen aus suggestiven „Inwiefern war das…“-Fragen. Schmerzt jedes Mal beim Zuschauen.
Randomized controlled dream 💭
There still seems to be a lot of confusion about significance testing in psych. No, p-values *don’t* become useless at large N. This flawed point also used to be framed as "too much power". But power isn't the problem – it's 1) unbalanced error rates and 2) the (lack of a) SESOI. 1/ >
The photo is from 2019, but if the store is still open I am hopeful. Great find!
