The crumbling and precarious clifftop ruins of Newark Castle. The foreground of the image has a bay with the sea to the right at quite low tide. There are cliffs in the middle ground beyond the bay with stone ruins on top of them. The sky is blue and the scene is in sunshine.
The crumbling and precarious clifftop ruins of Newark Castle, near St Monans in the East Neuk of Fife, also sometimes known as the Castle of St Monans. A castle was probably first built here in the mid-1200s. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

This very special building is believed to be the only medieval Carmelite church that is still in use anywhere in the British Isles and is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek. This remarkable 15th century Gothic church, in South Queensferry, was once part of a Carmelite friary, founded around 1330.
