💡 Among those hospitalised, financially precarious women were more likely to stay overnight — pointing to potential delays and complications
We could improve miscarriage care by tackling access barriers, investing in counselling, and tailoring support for the most vulnerable.

💡 Most miscarriages do not lead to hospitalisation — many are managed in outpatient settings, primary care or outside the healthcare system
💡 Rural areas, financial precarity, chronic conditions, age and prior miscarriage history are associated with higher hospitalisation rates

We find relatively similar & plausible #miscarriage estimates: 18-24% of women experience miscarriages, and 14-21% of all pregnancies are miscarriages.
Miscarriage rates by age are similar to a previous study for younger age groups, but the estimates diverge from age 35, indicating uncertainty

We show more miscarriages are self-reported than found in medical registers in Finland maybe due to varying miscarriage definitions between healthcare professionals and lay people and differences in healthcare seeking patterns by population groups.
