How about you stop talking shit, then you might not be called out on how little you know.

Don't know what game you're watching.
The correct punishment is the possibility of a yellow card. In this situation I'd say it was pretty nailed on, if the Burn on is seen I think it'd just be a warming unless it continued to happen.
As far as I saw it can't. But I'll admit I didn't read the VAR chapter fully as it looked too long for a Sunday morning!
No, can't be DOGSO when the ball's not even in play!
I'd also debate your second point. If Burn's a yard further back I don't think he gets to the ball.
The push is related to a goal as the goal was correctly ruled out, it also didn't form part of the goal/no goal decision. Its also not a penalty as the ball was not in play, so at most a retake of the free kick would be awarded.
So my conclusion is annoyingly the right result was reached.
"The referee may be assisted by VAR only in the event
of a βclear and obvious errorβ or βserious missed incidentβ in relation to:
β’ goal/no goal
β’ penalty/no penalty
β’ direct red card
β’ mistaken identity when when the referee cautions or sends off the wrong player of the offending team"
Burn is not "moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball" when the foul occurs as the ball is still dead.
So is VAR allowed to point out the foul in the build up to the (correct) offside?
Now, I haven't read this section closely, but the answer appears to be "no".
βIn situations where:β
βa player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offenceβ

So what does the law actually state? Here it is in its entirety:
A lot of discourse around Burn's disallowed goal for #NUFC and as far as I can tell its all incorrect.
IFAB Laws of the game (pg 105) is the section being quoted, but with a significant section removed that to my understanding (not a qualified ref or lawyer!) makes it irrelevant to the situation.
He didn't give someone (Paul Daglish maybe?) one when we beat Sheff Wed 8-0. If I remember rightly Shearer's 2nd pen was his 4th or 5th goal.
Every chance Trips was asking, not telling.
Qarabag putting up as much resistance as these kids:

I got the impression Willock wanted the penalty and Trippier as captain was asking the question to Gordon.
One thing #NUFC 's Champions League campaign has shown is that the Premier League at least has the handball rule largely right.
Completely agree, we'll get better over time. There may be set backs or stagnation periods, but attempting to employ very good off the field staff combined with maximum on the field investment will lead to progress over the long term.
Out of interest, what exactly do you mean by "shift Lewis Hall into a powerful central role"?
He should be kicking the Ref's changing room's door off its hinges Γ la Big Duncan Ferguson after *that* Tyne-Wear derby.
Barnes was behind the ball.
Yeah, my industry has such a high technical knowledge and industry specific language barrier to entry, that I've given up trying to explain things to people.
People seem to be willing to understand that the system they operate within is complex, but that any they're not familiar with must be simple.
Very interesting thread mate, though I can't say I understood it any more than superficially. But I think it goes to show we've all got our areas of expertise and are wildly ignorant of just how ignorant we are about other subjects!
It'll never happen. Players can be in an offside position, but if they're not interfering with play it doesn't matter. There's subjectivity in there which a computer can't resolve, it will always need to be looked at by a human.
So #NUFC lose, annoying as we played well, but it was always going to be next to impossible to beat city over 2 legs with our thin squad.
What I have seen is a side getting much better at playing through midfield, more movement & players showing for the ball. Long term, this was a good performance.
The fact he's 24, isn't out on loan and is playing for under 21's suggests he's nowhere near the level required.
Will be telling if we get L1/L2/NL opposition in the 4th round if he doesn't get anywhere near the squad for that.
No, we're talking about a man beloved for what he did for NUFC 30+ years ago. A man that had such an outsized impact that what he did is still remembered and referenced fans of other clubs!
NUFC fans want to show their love and support - want to be kind and reverent - and you want them not to be.
And yet it faded away with time, without having to be an absolute ghoul about remembering the dead. Have some fucking empathy.
We should have only clapped for those two lads that were on MH17 once as well. After all, they didn't deserve any more and even worse, it might distract the players! I mean they only [checks notes] died...
#NUFC doing things the hard way again, but hopefully the first steps towards doing things the easy way.
+vs of: Gordon looking good again; Ramsey looking better; team more confident in giving the ball to Nick when he demands it regardless of players around him.
I'll leave the negatives to others.
