If sunk cost fallacy could be summed up in a single phenomenon, it would be those AI bros.

You could tell that these fools are pulling these "five year projections" from their behind. Asking us how we feel about it would be like asking a dog what it's like to stand on its hind legs for a full day. It's nonsensical.
I treat the screenplay like an adaptation of the non-existent novel. Which means I gotta know when to keep 'em, know when to cut 'em.
Hey #scriptsky,
I currently am running a group of forty screenwriter's. But there will be some spots opening up 👀
We do one page challenges every week. There'll also be table reads, script swaps, and all that fun stuff.
If interested, just shoot me five pages of a script in DMs.
It’s also therapeutic for me to write and to have more one-on-one, personal interactions within scenes, capturing the beauty of being heard. Sometimes in the way I wish I was heard.
While I’m patiently sitting like a duck, waiting for reader notes on the second draft of my “therapy” script, I’m already outlining another potential script. Also about therapy. Maybe I’m the one who needs therapy 😂 #scriptsky
Screenwriting Reddit (which I put too much energy into a year ago) in a nutshell:
- Someone with zero produced credits: “NEVER do this, you hacks.”
- WGA/produced writers explain why that’s nonsense. Get argued with and downvoted.
- Cycle repeats.
Bless that mod team. I could never. #scriptsky
So to conclude this unorganized tangent, I’ll say this:
Don’t let it. Keep telling relevant stories. Focus on making them sing.

And in other #moviesky news, we have a puppet of said administration acquiring Warner Brothers. We, as storytellers who want to break in and eventually do, are heading into a climate that is going to choke our sanity.

So I want to be honest: I am scared to fully voice my dissent. I never thought I would feel that way. But we have reached a point where even what I write about could cost me my life.
This hot, boiling pot of fascist stew feels relentless.

But what happens when there is dissent? As storytellers and readers of story, we know what happens. If we say that a certain war, really a genocide, ought not be waged, we lose jobs. Our lives. /3
I’m sure we all know by now, from the headlines and the geopolitical climate. Unionists, artisans, storytellers, people just living their lives are put in a position where they’re expected to take what a certain fascist is saying at face value. /2
I know this isn’t 100% related to #scriptsky, but it still is. Considerably. Bear with me. 1/
I haven't been very active on #scriptsky the past few days. I’ve been laser-focused on my script, and I think for the first time since I wrote the first draft, within a week no less, back in December until now... I think it’s REALLY coming together.
My script is a psychological drama; it doesn’t have much intentional humor. But when it does, I keep picturing a world where I wrote this pretty heavy story as a ROM com 😯
Just a little note: italics mean she’s speaking in Hebrew in this excerpt.

And also that website should eat some humble pie because it just so happened I clicked on it to read that specific article. Make your first impression last, or I’ll move on to a less disrespectful site that doesn’t hurt your eyes with pop ups.
I think the best advice for #scriptsky and for life is to cultivate curiosity and stay humble. Many of the seasoned pros of our time, perhaps not all, the "most learned," follow these principles. We all must do the same as we tread that path.
I feel honored to be a part of #scriptsky (you amazing people ❤️). But more than that, even though I still have a long way to go, I have spent enough years screenwriting to know that I have made progress. And by now, I know this is something I want to do for life. I take pride in that.

Tearing apart a scene that I couldn't imagine taking out. Not because of reader feedback or anything, but my creative instincts kicked in. Sacrifices and drastic changes had to be made. That no one will understand but me (but it's worth it).😔
It's long long past time.
Leave Twitter.

Different with every script. But lately, with my current one, when it comes to pages, it has been mostly addition over subtraction, with readers urging me to extend a few elements. It has been a miracle that I am still at the 84-85 page count.
That's my miracle! How about yours ?

I’m off Twitter (yep, won’t dignify “X”). Only saw this thanks to a screenshot 😂
Calling on my #scriptsky community- a friend of mine tragically lost her son to a murder-suicide, committed by his father. If you could please take a minute to sign this petition to pass Axel's Law, it would mean the world.
Oh and #scriptsky --
I know this is a shot in the dark, but I would love to harvest 20 to 30 of your ideas for free because I apparently do not possess a frontal lobe and need to feed them to a hallucinator to mimic cinematography, human expression, the whole nine yards.
Thanks.
So after writing an important piece of dialogue, I accidentally created a pun and decided it might actually serve the shared humanity of the scene to acknowledge it. #scriptsky 😂
...I might keep it.
